Team Orne continued their climb back towards the top of the standings taking over 3rd place this week with a dominant performance over team Cousins. Team Orne was fortunate to be on the right side of many close games having won four points by 10 pins or less. Two of those coming from the matchup between Gillian LaMonica (782) and spare Mark Goldsworthy (797), but despite the closeness Mark took 4/5 points. Char McIvor (899) had a good showing last week but ran into an equally good night from captain Linda Orne (941). The closest match of the night came at the anchor position, where Cindy Cousins (1060) made a game four comeback 292-248 over Matt Sutherland (1055), taking the only win for Team Cousins on the night. This was a season high for Cindy, so despite the team’s loss they do have a positive takeaway.

Match #2 – C. Jeffers (21) vs. LaMonica (10)
Team C. Jeffers once again showing off their rejuvenated bowling prowess, handing Team LaMonica their lowest week of the season. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum, we saw Al Bristow (999) shoot his highest total of the season, much to the dismay of Cyndie Barnett (933) who only managed a single point despite being the second highest total for leadoffs on the night. The other key factor in Team C. Jeffers win was Tim Hooper (1007) who also had a season high, and dominated his match against Andrew LaMonica (847) who continued his struggles on the lane this week. Chris Jeffers (831) found himself in a close match with Jeff Bradshaw (803). Chris continues his hot streak, winning his fourth week in a row

Match #3 – Lourenco (21) vs. Bartram (10)
A fairly low scoring match that saw Team Lourenco scrap out the win, keeping themselves in the hunt for the top half of the league. Team Bartram continues to slip further down into the lower half of the teams. Derek Sanderson (778) finally broke his eight-week losing streak, taking the win over Dave Duncan (740). Tonight, also saw the full return of Ethan Buckman (945), shooting more like what we’ve come to expect from him this season, sweeping the points off Willy Starr (750) in the process. At anchor Jeston Bartram (894) seems to have found a little rhythm, winning back-to-back weeks for the first time this season, taking advantage of a lower night from Belle Lourenco (856).

Match #4 – Devenney (9) vs. Cook (22)
Team Cook pulled off the win in a close match with Team Devenney, keeping themselves neck and neck with the group of teams battling for the 7th and 8th spots in the league. Team Devenney woefully stretched their losing streak to nine weeks, tying the league long this season. Neil Stewart (867) found himself to be a strong supporting member this week, beating up on a struggling Dave Priestley (635), giving his team a 232-point lead at leadoff. However, Team Cook quickly chipped away at that lead with both second and third bowlers, Quinton Crockett (938) and Alyssa Campbell (917), winning their matches by over 100 points. Trevor Cook (927) put the final nail in the coffin taking a fairly close match with Jennifer Devenney (875).

Match #5 – Hurd (19) vs. King (12)
This was another very closely contested match, 3547-3514, in favour of Team Hurd. Seems like a bit of déjà vu, if we remember back to the last half when Team Hurd started the half guns blazing. Captain Chad Hurd (840) let his team do the heavy lifting tonight while he got smacked around by Patrick Walker (978) who shot very well most of the night. Unlucky for Patrick, he was the only member of Team King who found themself in the win column. All of the other matchups were within 90 points, but all going to Team Hurd. Brett Hendrickson (1016) put together a nice night for himself, even taking a big 305-292 win over Karen Armstrong (927) in game three. The anchor battle between Kevin Naugler (948) and Wayne King (902) was back and forth all night but with Kevin consistently having above average games he took the win.

Match #6 – Youzwa (23.5) vs. B. Jeffers (7.5)
Team Youzwa came out to play last week, putting up their biggest night so far this season. The loss knocks Team B. Jeffers out of the top three and just ahead of team Youzwa in the standings. Mark Prystupa (910) put on a clinic at leadoff, handling Scott Saunderson (745) with relative ease. The closest match of the night had Jenna Gillrie (807) and Adam Williamson (806) split the night 2.5 points each, thanks to a game four tie 204-204. Ben Jeffers (826) was up and down all night and his opponent Chloe Fleming (934) won purely due to consistent bowling all night. The big shootout of the night came from the anchors, which saw Tyson Nelson (1087) only manage one point off Colton Youzwa (1163) who was a man on a mission and definitely looked like he was over his early year slump.

Match #7 – Gelardi (12) vs. Rodych (19)
This may be one of the top candidates for upset of the season, as the top seeded Team Gelardi could not handle 16th seed Team Rodych. It’s very reminiscent of the Week 7 upset back when Team C. Jeffers took down Team Hurd. Wayne Wolanksi (674) still recovery from his hand injury certainly did not help Team Gelardi’s case, but that is not to take anything away from Team Rodych who had a good night and who has had Team Gelardi’s number all season. A major contributor to this was Lexie Sutherland (1105), making big waves in the league since joining the team full time. The other very notable matchup was Hailey Roberts (842) shooting her biggest total of the season to fend off one of the most successful leadoffs, Mitch Dubell (849), leaving them in a 2.5-point tie. Matt Rodych (859) comes off with his second straight low week, possibly a little rusty from being away for six weeks. Nonetheless Dwayne Gelardi (973) with a below average night was still able to manage four points fairly easily.

Team Enns keeps themselves right in the hunt for A-side with a big win this week 3578-3307. Despite the fairly large difference in grand totals, this match was fairly tight for the first three games. Team Stevenson looks like they fell asleep game four, while apparently that was the game Team Enns found their second wind, winning the game 1019-741. At leadoff, Erik Stewart (738) was no match for the craftiness of Dwight Hurd (800) who no doubt used a mind game or two on the young bowler. The second and third positions really made the difference as both Garry Bell (951) and Craig Enns had a dominant night, taking wins over Tyler Reynolds (873) and Jayden Nickerson (852) respectively. The anchor match was honestly much less thrilling. Glen Howarth (857) decided to show up game four after taking the rest of the night off by the looks of things, shooting a big 323-217 victory over Dylan Stevenson (844), completing a 93-point comeback to steal his total.
